Ingredients1 lb. lean steak, such sirloin steak, cut 1/4" wide across the grain
2 tablespoon margarine or butter
Garlic powder or garlic clove, minced, add to taste
1 10 oz can Beef Broth, or consommé
2 tablespoon corn starch
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup soya sauce
2 large fresh tomatoes, cut in wedges
2 green peppers cut in strips, or wedges1 cup sliced green onions, including tops
Rice, cooked
Instructions
Cut meat in 1/4 wide strips, sliced across the grain. In a large skillet brown the meat in margarine or butter. Add garlic and beef broth. Cover and simmer 10 minutes.
Blend corn starch, water and soya sauce, shake well. Stir in meat and cook and stir until thick.
Add tomatoes and green pepper. Lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Top with green onions.
Serve over rice.
Variation: Add 1 tbsp paprika to the meat and allow to stand a bit. Also you may omit the tomatoes.
Hint: if using regular onions, add with green peppers.
