Serves 6 to 8
This is a good recipe to make the next day after you have served a nice ham dinner. Use the ham bone to make this soup.
Ingredients
½ lb. dried peas
Cold water
¼ cup celery, chopped
2 carrots, shredded
1 onion, chopped
1 ham bone
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Cover dried peas with cold water. Soak several hours or overnight. Drain. Add 5 cups of cold water, vegetables, ham bone and seasonings. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for four hours or until peas are soft. Check water and stir often. Remove ham bone. Serve.
I made same recipe with split peas.just rinse well.. no soaking, but it cooked longer.
