Ingredients1 ½ cups white sugar
½ cup water
1 tsp. white vinegar
1 egg white, stiffly beaten½ tsp. vanilla
½ cup chopped nuts
Instructions
Combine white sugar, water and vinegar in a heavy 2-quart casserole. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves and mixture begins to boil. Cook to hard ball stage, 250 F, without stirring. Remove from heat immediately and gradually pour over stiffly beaten egg white, beating until thick and mixture holds its shape. Fold in nuts and vanilla. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper or spread on a buttered pan and cut in squares.
Hint: You can use brown sugar.
