Old-fashioned Baked Rice Pudding

Old-fashioned Baked Rice Pudding


Ingredients

1/2 cup long grain rice
1/3 cup sugar
2 cups milk
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 cup water
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup raisins, optional

Instructions
Stir all ingredients except raisins together in a buttered 1 1/2-quart casserole. Bake in a slow oven, 250-300 F, for 1/2 hour without disturbing the rice. Reduce temperature to 200-250 F and continue baking until done, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. During last ½ hour of baking, add raisins, if desired.

Hint: Cook until done, depending on your oven the pudding may be ready sooner than stated in recipe.
