Swiss Steak Cooked in Slow Cooker

Swiss Steak Cooked in Slow Cooker

Instructions
1 1/2 lbs  steak, 1 inch thick, shoulder, rub or round
1 large onion, sliced thin
1 tablespoon Wortershire sauce
3/8 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp salt 
2 bay leaves
1 large can tomatoes
1 tablespoon flour, optional

Slow cooker instructions:
If you have time, brown meat in frying pan. Place half the onion on bottom of slow cooker. Add the rest of the ingredients except flour in order listed. Stir flour gently in tomatoes and cook for 6 hours on high. 
Steak cooking in frying pan.
Cut fat out before browning meat.

Oven baking instructions:
Brown meat in frying pan. Place half the onion on bottom in baking pot. Add the rest of the ingredients except flour in order listed. Stir flour gently in tomatoes and bake in covered pot in oven at 350 for 1 1/2 hours.

Top of stove instructions:
Brown meat in frying pan. Place half the onion on bottom in large pot. Add the rest of the ingredients except flour in order listed. Stir flour gently in tomatoes and  place lid on pot and  cook on top of stove for  1 1/2 hours.

Hints: 
Substitute beef for wild meat, such as moose. 
Cut steak in large pieces.
Gently stir in flour and remove any flour lumps.
Serve with mashed potatoes and vegetables.
Leftovers taste great.
