Tomato Sauce for Pasta

Ingredients
1 to 2 tsp. olive oil
1/2 green pepper, diced
1 small jalapeno pepper diced, optional
1/8 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. basil or 1/4 tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil
1/2 tsp. garlic powder or one clove garlic, minced
1 28 oz. can tomatoes crushed
1/2 5.5 oz. can tomato paste

Pasta, such as spaghetti.

Instructions
Preheat oil in  medium pot. Add green pepper and jalapeno pepper, cook until soft, stirring often.
Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boil, simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
Meanwhile cook pasta. Serve sauce over cooked pasta.

Hint:
Eliminate the oil by cooking vegetables in two tablespoons of water in the microwave for 2 to 3 minutes.

  1. Basil and origano?
    A pinch of sugar is a must! It softens the taste. Takes out the acidity.
    I recommend to always add atlease one frest chopeed tomato.
