Makes 3 ½ dozen approximately
1 cup flour
1 egg
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. baking soda
½ cup chocolate chips
½ cup butter or margarine
½ cup chopped walnuts, optional
2/3 cup brown sugar
Instructions
Stir flour, salt and baking soda together. Mix 2 tbsp. of the dry ingredients with the chocolate chips and the nuts.
Cream butter; add brown sugar gradually, beating until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients, mixing well. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheets. Bake cookies at 375 F for 8-10 minutes (or until done).
Cool slightly before removing from pan.
Hints: Cook in the middle of the oven. Recipe can be doubled or tripled.
