Ingredients
1 dark chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup Kirschwasser (white cherry brandy), optional, omit if serving to children
1/2 can 540 ml or 21 oz. cherry pie filling
1/2 can 16 oz. vanilla pudding
Whipping cream:
1 cup whipped cream
2 tablespoons icing sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
Ganache:
1 cup dark chocolate chips
2/3 cup whipping cream
2 pinch of salt
3 oz. Chocolate curls for decoration.
27 fresh cherries for decoration
Instructions
Make dark chocolate cake mix batter following package instructions, except place a bit more cake mix dough in one pan. Once cooked and cooled sliced the biggest cake in half horizontally.
Place the biggest cake on the serving plate. Brush with one third of the Kirschwasser to moisten. Top with half the pudding. Top with half the cherries.
Repeat, add layer of cake, brush with one third of the Kirschwasser, top with rest of pudding and rest of cherries.
Add last cake and brush with one third Kirschwasser, cover and refrigerate overnight.
Next day:
Whipping Cream:
Cool bowl and beater. Best on high until stiff peak form. Put one third of whipping cream aside. Brush remaining on sides of cake.
Ganache:
Melt chocolate and stir until smooth. Stir in cream and salt.
Top the top of cake with the ganache.
Top cake with scoops or swirls of remaining whipping cream.
Top each swirl with a cherry.
Decorate sides with chocolate curls and fresh cherries.
