Basic Chili Con Carne

Serves 4 This is my go to chili recipe. It is mild for chili and goes well with biscuits. Agnes Chili Ingredients 1 lb extra lean ground beef 1 small onion, diced, approximately 1/2 cup 1/2 green pepper, diced, or use any pepper on hand 1 can 28 oz diced tomatoes or 1 medium tomato, diced and one can 19 oz tomatoes 1 can 19 oz red kidney beans, rinsed and drained 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 tsp garlic powder or 2-3 garlic cloves, minced Dash black pepper Instructions - pick one of 3 methods Top of stove method : Cook extra lean beef in cast iron pan. In another pan or large pot, cook onion, green pepper and fresh garlic with a bit of oil. Cook beef until no longer pink. Break beef up in small pieces. Cook vegetables until tender. Place all ingredients in one large pot, bring to boil then simmer for one hour. Slow cooker method : Cook extra lean beef in cast iron pan. Cook beef until no longer pink. Break beef up in small pieces. Place beef and all other ingredients in slow cook

Charlotte's Carnation Whipped Cream

Makes about 1 cup Whipped cream is heavy for digestion. This is Charlotte’s alternative using a mixer. Charlotte Ingredients 1 cup Carnation evaporated milk 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/4 cup white sugar, separated Instructions Place mixer beaters and a 4 cups glass measuring cup in freezer until cooled. Use cooled beaters to whip Carnation milk. Once whipped, mix in vanilla. Whip in one tablespoon of sugar. Add sugar one tablespoon at a time until sweet enough. Maximum 1/4 cup of white sugar. Refrigerate whipped cream until ready to use. Cream puff instructions When ready to serve fill cream puffs with Carnation Whipped Cream and top with strawberries. This whipped cream recipe is very good and can be used for many other desserts.

Swedish Tea Ring in Bread Machine

16 Servings Makes 2 tea rings Agnes Swedish Tea Ring Ingredients 1 1/4 cups milk 1 egg, beaten 2 tablespoons margarine or butter 1/4 cup white sugar 3/4 tsp salt 3 2/3 cups white flour 1 1/4 tsp yeast Filling : 2 tablespoons margarine or butter 2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 cup brown sugar 2/3 cups raisins or mixed dried fruit Topping 16 cherries 16 walnuts halves Instructions Measure ingredients in order listed into baking pan, or according to your bread machine. Insert baking pan into oven chamber, twist to secure. Close lid. Select dough/pasta setting. Press start When cycle is complete, remove dough from machine. Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a rectangle 14x 9 inches. Spread each half with the butter and sprinkle with half brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins. Roll up, beginning at wide side. Pinch edge of dough into roll to seal well. Stretch roll to make even. With sealed edge down, shape into ring on lightly greased baki
